GABA (Gamma-aminobutyric acid)
GABA (Gamma-aminobutyric acid) is the product of a biochemical decarboxylation reaction of glutamic acid by the vitamin pyridoxal, as well as by decarboxylase (GAD) and is the most prevalent inhibitory neurotransmitter in the brain. It helps insure a proper balance between inhibition and excitement. GABA produces a calming effect and can help induce relaxtion, analgesia and sleep. It can also help to decrease body fat levels and increase lean muscle tissue by stimulating the brain to secrete increased amounts of Human Growth Hormone (hGH).
Dosage: 500mg to 2500mg daily.
Precautions: Too much GABA can cause increased anxiety, shortness of breath, numbness around the mouth, and tingling in the extremities. Further, abnormal levels of GABA unbalance the brain's message delivery system and may cause seizures.
